Kevitsa Ni-Cu-PGE Mine is located in Sodankylä, Finland. Mine construction is under way and the production will start in 2012.

Job description:

• Lead and manage the Instrumentation and Control (SCADA) maintenance team to ensure optimum plant availability and performance.
• Provide innovative engineering solutions and develop strategies for plant optimisation. Engage, manage and drive performance of internal teams and external industry consultants.    

Responsibilities:

• To establish and manage a maintenance facility at a new metallurgical process plant.
• To ensure that Safety Protocols and Operating Procedures are followed and that all Safety, Health and Environmental Statutory Requirements are met.
• To set up a computer based planned maintenance system to ensure that all machinery, instrumentation and equipment is maintained according to supplier recommendation, industry best practices and within determined budgets.
• To ensure that economical spares inventories are established and maintained.
• To evaluate plant performance to identify and initiate development opportunities.
• To provide technical support for the Instrumentation & Control maintenance personnel on a daily basis; to assist maintenance personnel to maximize production and efficiencies and optimize costs.
• To review plant design for debottlenecking and efficiency/operability improvement and initiate, and provide financial justification for, related capital projects.
• To report on maintenance activities and performance indicators;
• To oversee and manage all personnel within the mechanical maintenance department.
• Be enthusiastic and pro-active in view of driving the maintenance team to achieve production targets.    

Requirements:

Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualification in Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
• Computer literate
• Management qualification would be an advantage
• English advanced

Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years´ experience in metallurgical process plant maintenance management, preferably in the base metals industry and Copper/Nickel crushing milling and flotation circuits, in particular.

• Experience in the maintenance of the following equipment is essential:

ü  Siemens PCS7  (hybrid system) using Siemens S7-400, S7-300, ET200M PLC’s and I/O   systems.

ü  Siemens simocodes on Profibus DP networks.

ü  Communications Infrastructure Type – Profibus PA for instruments and DP for motor control and field I/O

ü  VSD’s – Vacon

ü  Weigh Bridge accreditation and maintenance

ü  Belt weighers

ü  Process instrumentation for measurement of flow, pressure level, temperature, chemical analysis etc.

ü  Regulations related to the maintenance and operation of nuclear instrumentation.

Pneumatic control of valves and field equipment using Siemens PS2 pneumatic positioners on Profibus PA.
